Active Directory Collector

Active Directory Network Collector provides an auditing solution for network administration:
  1. Login/Logoff Auditing
    • AD Collector will track when users are logging in and out of your network
  2. Software Auditing
    • AD Collector will track what software is installed on the computers in your domain.
    • AD Collector will track who was logged onto a computer when software was installed.

Active Directory Collector should be run on a server so that it will always be running to audit logins and software.

Download the install file and install it to a server on your network.

Active Directory Collector also requires that login scripts be added to your group policy. Download the adnm.vbs logon script, and follow the instructions to get it working on your network.
Download Login Script.

Installing the Logon Script

While it is straightforward to install AD Collector on your server, it is a little more complicated to install the logon script. Please follow the instructions below to complete your installation.
  1. Unzip the adnm.vbs file from the LogonScript.zip file that you just downloaded.

  2. Open the Active Directory Users and Computers program on your Active Directory server.

  3. Right click on your domain and select the properties menu

  4. Select the Group Policy tab and click on the Properties button

  5. The Group Policy editor will appear. Under User Configuration, navigate to Windows Settings, then Scripts(Logon/Logoff). On the right side, double click on the Logon object.

  6. The Logon Properties dialog will appear. Add a logon script by clicking the add button.

  7. The Add a Script dialog will appear. Click on the Browse button

  8. At this point, the computer asks you where the logon script is located, with the Browse dialog. I like to copy and paste the logon script into the Logon folder because that is where your logon script should go.

  9. Open up the folder where your logon script is located (here it is in the c: drive). Right click on it and click on the copy command.

  10. Go back to the dialog where it it asking for the logon script and paste it by right clicking and selecting paste.
Then click on the Open button.

  11. You will see the adnm.vbs appear in the Script Name box. Now, in the parameters box, type in the name or IP address of the server running AD Collector (do not type in adcollectorserver), followed by a space, followed by the word add.
Then click on the OK button.

  12. Repeat the previous steps with the Logoff object, the only difference this time is that the second parameter for the logoff script will be the word remove. Once again, fill in the name or IP address of the server running AD Collector where I have adcollectorserver in my screenshot.

Active Directory Network Manager v1.11 and above is compatible with AD Collector, so try them together.
